Wednesday 1st October - Enrichment Day
The first Enrichment Day on the 1st October allowed pupils to gain an understanding of Unicef and the Rights Respecting School Award that the school is aiming to achieve. They worked with their Form Groups and Personal Tutors and took part in lots of exciting group activities which saw them to increase their knowledge of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. They were also encouraged to discuss if some rights are more important to them than others and in what unacceptable circumstances their rights could be taken away from them.
The UNICEF RRSA is based on the principles of equality, dignity, respect and is against all forms of discrimination. As a school we are going to put the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the centre of our ethos to ensure the pupils’ well-being and develop all of their talents and abilities. We want the whole school community to understand the rights of the child and to see them reflected in the practises of the staff and students.
