The Literacy Leaders group, made up of twenty five of Year 9 pupils, are working hard to raise money for the school library.
Their first fund-raising event was a cake sale held, appropriately enough, in the English block. The girls have set themselves a target of £500 which they hope to achieve before the end of the school year. The funds will then be used to update the stock in the school library. The new Accelerated Reader scheme has seen a huge increase in the use of the library and although since September we have already added £1500 of new books to the library stock, we are always looking for new books that will appeal to our wide range of readers. The sale raised £58.95 (and Miss Barnes particularly enjoyed the Oreo cupcakes!). Well done girls!
