Rotary Club Public Speaking Competition

Public Speaking Competition

Five Year 10 girls recently took part in an internal competition, to enable us to choose a candidate to represent Greebank in the annual, inter-schools Rotary Club Public Speaking competition, to be held in March. Harriet, Lucy, Hannah, Phoebe and Emma all very bravely took on the challenge of writing and delivering a speech on 'The Choices we Make'. Whilst all very different in content, the speeches all considered, in one way or another, the impact on society of both the big and small choices that individuals make. The competition, organised by Miss Barnes, was judged by Mr Raikes and Mrs Hogarth, who were both tremendously impressed by the quality of the speeches given by the girls. Mr Raikes said that, "As in previous years, the girls who have entered the competition have shown a determination and confidence beyond their years. It was, as always a delight to be a judge". The winning speech was given by Hannah Kelly, who will now go on to represent Greenbank in the inter-schools final held at the Royal Clifton Hotel in March.
