Another succesful enrichment day took place on Thursday 11th December.
Year 7 pupils were given two exciting opportunities on the most recent enrichment day with half of the year spending the day learning and rehearsing a musical piece which was performed in a concert at the end of the day. The remainder of the year went on a visit to a Hindu temple in Preston to coordinate with their upcoming Hindu topic. On the next enrichment day in January the pupils will swap activities.
Year 8 had a day of Languages in which they planned a visit to Barcelona or Paris supported by the Maths department followed by the producing of a power point, podcast or poster to be sent to our partner schools in France and Spain describing Southport to them.
Year 9 had an ECO –School enterprise day under the theme of ‘The Big Green Foot’. Pupils in teams were assigned roles ranging from the ‘Eco – warrior’ to the ‘Eco – marketer’. They had to research how eco-friendly Greenbank is and then produce a campaign that showed how we could be even better. The winning actions plans for each group were then presented to the whole year and a winning team decided on.
Year 10 were taken on a variety of visits to complement their GCSE option choices. These included visits to the Imperial War Museum, Old Trafford (for media and fitness workshops and a tour of the ground), the Lowry (for 3D modelling and art sessions) and to a Jazz concert. All pupils also had the opportunity in the afternoon to have some free time at either Salford Quays or the Christmas market in Manchester. Pupils had a great day and really enjoyed the opportunities they were given.
